Install the extension

Get started

After installing the extension, follow these steps to get started:

1. 01Click the Locki icon in your browser toolbar to open the extension.
2. 02Sign in to your organization account or create one to start a free trial.
3. 03Your organization's shared keys will sync automatically to your extension.
4. 04Open any web app with a text field, and use Locki to encrypt/decrypt inline.
5. 05Encrypt/decrypt functions are accessible via right-click context menu.

When you send encrypted text

1. 01The recipient must also have Locki installed to decrypt the message.
2. 02They will need access to the same Locki Key used for encryption (shared via the admin dashboard).
3. 03Without the correct key, the encrypted data remains secure and unreadable.

Best practices

• —Use descriptive names for your keys to keep them organized (e.g., "Engineering — API Secrets").
• —Assign keys to specific groups in the dashboard to control access based on team roles or data sensitivity.
• —Enable smart suggestion rules to automatically alert users when they type sensitive patterns without encrypting them first.
• —Rotate keys periodically via the dashboard for enhanced security.

How Locki keys work
